What is the Problem that we are addressing?
Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) are the non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. These includes economic stability, education, food, healthcare access, housing and safety. Addressing SDOH is crucial because these factors significantly impact health disparities and overall well-being. By improving conditions like access to nutritious food, and quality education, we can reduce chronic diseases, improve mental/physical health and create a more equitable system to ultimately have healthier and more productive communities.
How are we addressing this problem?
Despite the challenges faced by Detroit residents, many local resources are available to support their well-being. However, there is limited awareness of these resources that often prevents residents from accessing these important services. The Wayne State Health Leaders Resource Bank addresses this issue by providing a centralized, user-friendly platform. Our comprehensive collection of categorized resources includes detailed instructions to access each resource and allows one to share resources quickly with residents via QR Code or via SMS allowing residents to be quickly connect with resources. By partnering with local free clinics, we extend our reach to ensure that these resources are accessible and utlized by those who can benefit the most.
