What is this resource?

OLHSA is a community action organization dedicated to reducing poverty and supporting families in Oakland and Livingston counties. The organization offers early education programs such as Head Start or Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) to provide educational preparation for young children, as well as connecting those in need with various services for financial literacy, housing, rental/ home buyer support, veterans’ support, and homelessness aid. OLHSA also offers essential health and nutrition services, such as food assistance, nutritional support for women, infants, and children (WIC), HIV services, and mental health support. Additional resources include utility and water assistance, weatherization and home repair programs, and various emergency aid services to ensure families receive the support they need during times of emergency.

Their Emergency Utility Assistance Program offers assistance for residents with a utility shut-off or notice of pending utility shut-off. You need to call them to determine eligibility.

For housing support, OLHSA offers counseling services to help homeowners understand actions they should take if they are unable to make a mortgage payment or pay their property tax payment, assist you in creating a plan to own a home, identify and resolve factors causing homelessness and more.
