What is this resource?
SMART (Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation) is the public transportation provider for Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties in Southeast Michigan (Detroit is served by DDOT). SMART offers a range of services to connect residents to medical appointments throughout the metro Detroit area.
Routes:
SMART operates an extensive network of fixed-route buses that follow designated paths with scheduled stops. These routes are numbered and cover a wide geographical area across the three counties. You can find detailed route maps and schedules on the SMART website or using their trip planning tools linked here: https://www.smartbus.org/How-to-Ride/How-to-Find-Your-Route.
The Fast Michigan, Fast Woodward, and Fast Gratiot routes are limited-stop services designed for quicker travel along major corridors. Additionally, SMART offers Park & Ride locations, providing convenient access to express routes.
Connector:
SMART’s Connector service is an advance reservation, curb-to-curb service operating within designated service areas. This service is particularly designed to help seniors and people with disabilities connect to various destinations within a 10-mile radius of their origin. Full-fare customers (ages 6-64 without a disability) can use Connector services if their trip begins and ends more than 1/3 of a mile from a fixed SMART route. Priority for Connector service is given to medical trips. Passengers may call up to 6 days in advance for medical trips. More information can be found here: https://www.smartbus.org/Services/Connector
