What is this resource?

The Michigan Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) is a statewide initiative designed to help low-income Michigan households with their energy costs and promote energy self-sufficiency. Administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) through local partner organizations, MEAP provides assistance with utility bill payments, offers guidance on budgeting and energy conservation, and facilitates access to affordable payment plans.

In essence, MEAP is a program that provides financial and supportive services to help eligible low-income Michigan residents manage their energy expenses and work towards energy independence.
